May 2016
We have received an Oklahoma INBRE Equipment Grant for purchasing an optical cohenrence tomography system. This equipment will enhance our tissue engineering and biomechanics projects in collaboration with Dr. Mel Vaughan of UCO Biology Department.

5 student proposals from our group have been awarded for the student RCSA funding from the UCO Office of High Impact Practices for the 2016-2017 school year. Congratulations to Ting-Wei, Kara, Krystyl, Daniel, and Nik.

Mona and Lauren presented at the 2015 American Society for Cell Biology (ASCB) Annual Meeting in San Diego, CA.

Nov. 12, 2015
Congratulations to Ting-Wei Law for winning the Best of Engineering Sciences Award at the 104nd Annual Technical Meeting of Oklahoma Academy of Science held in OKC. His podium presentation was titled "Induced Wound Reveals Mechanical Tension in Fibroblast-Populated Collagen Lattices".

Kara Clark has been selected to participate in the summer research, supported by the National Science Foundation - REU program, at Washinton University in St. Louis. This is part of the ongoing collaboration between our lab at UCO and collaborators at WashU. Congratulations!

In addition to a faculty regular grant (Dr. Xu) and an interdisciplinary grant (with Dr. Steven Karpowicz of Biology) from UCO Office of Research and Grants, our research is now also supported by the National Science Foundation. In collaboration with Washington University in St. Louis, we'll focus on micromechanical testing on algal flagella as the model system for human airway cilia.
